THE STORY

With Rama and Lakshmana drawn away by the golden deer, a wandering ascetic arrives at the hermitage and asks for alms. Sita steps forward to give them.

The plate holds the moment just before the disguise falls and Sita Haran begins. Ravana appears as a sadhu — the most dangerous figure dressed as the most trusted.

THE ART

Drawn in the language of Indian folk narrative painting — flat figures, simple geometry, ritual repetition and a strong border. The complete plate holds Ravana as the ascetic, Sita at the hermitage, the alms, the boundary line, the distant deer, sun and moon, and rows of dancers and deer along the border.

Nothing is cropped or simplified to fit the garment. The chest motif isolates Ravana as Sadhu in full detail.

THE INSPIRATION

The scene draws from the Sita Haran episode of the Ramayana and from Indian folk storytelling traditions. The border of linked triangles, dancers and deer keeps the wider community of the story present around the central moment.

THE GARMENT

Oversized drop-shoulder tee in five colourways — Black, Carmine Maroon, Chocolate Brown, Moss Green and Pearl Blue. The complete plate prints across the back at full scale, with the Ravana as Sadhu motif carried at the left chest.

THE FABRIC

100% cotton. 240 GSM heavyweight French Terry — chosen for weight, drape and the way a large print sits flat across the back. Soft, breathable and skin-friendly.

THE FIT

Oversized drop-shoulder, XS to 2XL. Size down for a regular silhouette. Chest runs 41" at XS to 51" at 2XL. Free size exchange on all orders.

CARE

Wash cold, inside out. Do not iron directly on the print. Dry flat.

The Story

A sage at the door — and the oldest disguise in the epic.

With Rama and Lakshmana drawn away by the golden deer, a wandering ascetic arrives at the hermitage and asks for alms. Sita steps forward to give them. The plate holds the moment of the offering — the instant before the disguise falls and Sita Haran begins.

Artwork Detail

Art you can wear.

Drawn in the language of Indian folk storytelling — flat figures, ritual repetition, a border of dancers holding the frame — then translated, line for line, onto a garment built for the street. Every detail carries a piece of the story.
